Specialising in working alongside customers, we can help ensure important family or cultural traditions are maintained whilst using modern processes and world leading MEC3 ingredients. Also, over and above the usual hygiene inspections, we are continually striving to improve standards beyond the required level. We are inspected annually and accredited by SALSA (Safe & Local Supplier Approval). As bakers of organic products, the Antonelli bakery is also subject to regular audits by the Soil Association.
As one of the few UK cones manufacturers, and sole UK maker of waffle cones, naturally the ‘miles to market’ are instantly less than many of our competitors, who import many of their products. So when you buy from us you are not just enjoying the benefit of high quality cones, but helping the environment and the UK economy too. The other benefit of buying UK manufactured cones, is the reduced lead time when demand is high and stocks are low.
We also endeavour to purchase from local trade suppliers, where possible. Whilst we are considering the environment we should also mention our recycling policy; with currently 92% of our waste being recycled and we are striving to increase this. As leaders in the specialist cones market, the Antonelli bakery team take great pride in baking a range of 'inclusive' cones to enable everyone to enjoy their favourite ice cream. To that end our product range includes organic, gluten free and additive free cones. There are no hidden ingredients in our products and our wafer cones are naturally low in sugar. Our Italian partners also provide products which are free from allergens and suitable for varied special dietary needs. Antonelli is a founder member of the ICA (Ice Cream Alliance) who recognise our outstanding flavours at the annual Ice Cream Expo where we regularly pick up awards for new flavours of ice cream. In fact the Antonelli family have a track history of awards not just for products but for dedication to our business. In 1932 founder member Domenico Antonelli, our Great Grandfather, was awarded 'Cavaliere' status by the Italian Government for business success and contributions towards the good of the Italian community in Manchester. Similarly his son Romolo, our Grandfather, was also awarded the honour of "Cavaliere' in 1963.
This was the phrase used by Sue Perkins to describe ice cream cones when we were visited by the BBC’s Great British Bake Off team.
