Antonelli’s Harrogate Highlights!

Share

Earlier this month the Antonelli team ventured to Harrogate for the annual (and not forgetting iconic) Ice Cream Show, and what a week it was!

From our perspective, this year’s show was one of the best in the past 20 years with so many highlights that it’s been hard to choose just a few to share with you. But chosen we have! So, without further ado, here are our highlights from our time in Harrogate.

We all screamed for ice cream

Antonelli is known for our iconic cabinets at the Ice Cream Show, and this year’s was truly one for the books. From Strawberry Kefir to Cheeky Monkey® Rumba, Rhubarb and Rose Trifle to Passionfruit Baked Alaska, all our ice cream flavours returned fantastic reviews, but it was our Zillionaire Cheesecake that took the top prize for our most popular flavour of the show.

Improved sustainability

The new INNAPOLI, a paper substitute for the plastic napoli pan, was met with great excitement when it was unveiled at the show. Will this be the end of plastic ice cream pans?

Takeaway desserts

Another paper product that was revealed during the show was the ECOGEL which is ideal for delivery/ takeaway desserts keeping the ice cream cold for longer.

Awards galore

We were privileged to have won not one, not two but three awards at this year’s show!

Best New Food Product – TWIST 24/7 Cone, The Deli style cone.

Best New Packaging Product - PAPERGEL take home gelato tray.

Winner of the "Supply House flavour competition": 2024 Caramelised Cookie (1st & 2nd place) – you may remember we also won this award last year for our Strawberry flavour.

Of course, you may have also seen that our Chairman Roland Antonelli was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his service to the ice cream industry. Roland was greeted with a much-deserved standing ovation from all in attendance.

A blast from the past

Our very own Gelato Jonny met with his ice cream inspiration at the show, Nico, the ice cream man from his local area when he was a child. Here’s what Jonny had to say:

“Nico knew everybody’s order by heart and was always smiling. When I saw him at the show I was immediately brought back to all those amazing memories from when I was a child, and I think that’s the beauty of ice cream and the feelings it evokes. I don’t work with the ice cream vans as much as I once did, but they were the beginning of my ice cream journey and I’ll always thank Nico for that.”
